Pozzi's
Korner is located in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania and is "home" to
a small flock of Olde English "Babydoll" Southdown Miniature Sheep.
Our sheep are raised as part of the family and bred to sell as
breeding stock or as pampered pets. Sheep have been raised
here at Pozzi's Korner for over 40 years. Our
youngest shepherdess, Elana fell in love with the Babydoll breed and
convinced Dave and I to purchase our first Olde English Babydoll
Sheep in the winter of 2005. Babydolls are non-aggressive,
gentle-natured animals that are relatively easy to handle.
The Olde English "Babydoll"
sheep are a rare breed of miniature sheep that originated in
Southeastern England in the 1780's. They were imported into
the United States in 1803. "Babydolls" are known for their
wooly faces that appear to be smiling. These adorable sheep
measure 18-24 inches tall at the shoulder when shorn and weigh
70-150 lbs.
Each animal in our flock is
registered in the "OLDE ENGLISH "BABYDOLL" SHEEP REGISTRY".
This registry was founded by Robert Mock beginning in 1986.
The foundation flock registry was closed in 1991 and the registry
continues with the intent to ensure preservation of the original
breed. |
